EGR Coolers & EGR Valves
EGR coolers control the oxygen content and temperature at combustion. Inert CO2 exhaust gas is introduced to the engine, causing a slower explosion at lower combustion temperature and pressure. This reduces toxic NOx gas exhaust emissions.

Common causes of EGR failure are soot contamination, blockage due to carbon deposits, damage caused by constant vibration, or corrosion.

If the EGR valve malfunctions, CO2 is reintroduced to the engine intake at the wrong time, in the wrong amounts, and the engine performance suffers.
